about frakturdesign
I like design. I like Germany and Pennsylvania Dutch culture and history. I like patterns. I like symmetry. I like simple. I like intentional.
An early interest in history, printing and Europe has evolved into my passion today.

Art has always been my favorite form of self expression, specifically 2d and 3d design. Some may not consider it a true “art” because design typically serves an underlying purpose. Something based out of necessity rather than solely expression. I want to challenge that thought. I think design can be done as art for art’s sake.
The word derives from Latin frāctūra (“a break”), built from frāctus, passive participle of frangere (“to break”), the same root as the English word “fracture”.
I stole that 100% from Wikipedia. Consider the source cited.
My day job is in marketing. This is not part of that. This is strictly an outlet for me to push past my comfort zone and display what is in my mind. I want it to organically and naturally progress. That being said, this will be exclusive, small runs of products with limited availability and maybe puzzles to solve for the right to purchase.
I want to maintain a theme to this project. Johannes Gutenberg, Albrecht Dürer, Germany Culture, Pennsylvania (Pa) Dutch Culture, Hex signs, Printing Methods, history, symmetry, simple, intentional. These are all things that I want to associate and adhere to for this journey. I will make products for sale, they will be limited runs. Intentionally done. Locally sourced. For someone else.
